Just checking this Robert Trail Chisholm family and can see that its the Charleston family of Alexander Chisholm, who is allegedly a member of the Knockfin branch, close relatives to The Chisholm. We have DNA samples on the database from several participants who believe they may be Knockfin descendents (no actual proof). Particpation from any living descendents, direct male line only, should most certainly answer a few old questions, as well as new questions such as is your Moodie biologically related to this Chisholm family. Would you be able to contact any living males from this family? The connection of Alexander Chisholm of Charleston to the Knockfin family is by no means a confirmed connection, I believe that in Alexander Mcenzies book, he mentioned that an Alexander Chisholm from this Knockfin branch emigrated to America, and from that statement, some American genealogist has decided that the Alexander who was in Charleston is that same person who was written about by Mckenzie, a decision made with no proof. It may well be correct, just lacking a bit of documentary evidence. There would have been a lot of Alexander Chisholms floating around Strathglass and Inverness in those years. cheers Robert Chisholm Notify Administrator about this message?
