I have 2 separate Ydna partial matches (60/67 which I am told by the ydna guru's is quite good and that this is rare as haplotypes go), to the Chisholm surname. Both of these claim to be from Scotland. I have always maintained that our Moody (prob. originally spelled MOODIE) family came from Scotland too but I always get the old run around that Moody is an English name. Well Ydna has pretty much proven that not to be so in our case. We have 6 other matches to MOODY's most all of whose earliest known ancestors came from Nor. Ireland and many of them have heavily intermarried with other Scottish families and continued to do so even after arriving in Nor. America. At any rate, I have been advised by said DNA experts that since I have a total of 5 separate 60/67 ydna matches to different surnames than my own, that I need to "aggressively search for the common ancestor between us all". So, here I am. I have found links to all of the other surnames except for Chisholm which is the one I have the Most ydna partial matches to. I would think I would be able to find a Moody (all spellings considered) married to a Chisholm somewhere, but that's not been the case. My family, according to the Ydna experts say our earliest known ancestors came out of Norway prob. with the Viking raids, then went to Scotland, possibly the Orkney area since that is where Many MOODIE's were found to be living from the early times on and then some of them moved to Fifeshire and Ayrshire and other areas around Scotland, but some went to Nor. Ireland before coming to Nor. America in the early 1700's (some came over 100 years later too). If anyone here has any MOODY's (of any spelling) in their genealogies, would you please be so kind as to post a message here. You could be the one who helps me to finally knock down my 25 yr. brick wall!! Thank you very much. Notify Administrator about this message?
