Dear Chisholm Family Forum members: I am reserching the family of my maternal great-grandmother, Ann Chisholm MacIntyre (b. 1869-1936), second wife of Port Hawkesbury merchant, Norman MacIntyre (1844-1912) and daughter of Glendale farmer Christopher and Mary (Boyd) Chisholm. According to his death certificate, Christopher Chisholm was born in 1830 in St Andrew's, Antigonish Co, NS-- where many Chisholms had settled. I can't seem to find, however, any mention of him in the standard History of Antigonish County. But McDougall's History of Inverness County lists both him and his father as John, a pioneer who ended his days in Oyster Ponds, Guysborough Co, NS. John may have had a brother named Alexander whose family settled in Cape Breton, and seem to have been prominent politically. Christopher did name his first two sons, John and Alexander respectively--so that may bear out that lineage, tho' even MacDougall is uncertain about it, and the dates don't seem to add up. There the trail ends. The line of descent from Christopher and Mary Chishom is very well documented in Glendale church records, etc... But Chistropher's parentage remains murky, and unverified. Any and all leads about Christopher Chisholm, b. 1830 (St Andrews)-1915 (Glendale) are most welcome indeed. Many thanks and Happy Genealogising! Bill MacNeil Notify Administrator about this message?
