I am looking for further information about this family--especially that of Hugh Chisholm. I can't find his parent's names or from where he came. Thanks for any help.

First Generation
1. Hugh Chisholm 1,2 was born3 in 1836 in Nova Scotia, Canada. He died on 9 Jun 1910 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was buried4 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Hugh was counted in a census5 in 1881 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
We believe Hugh to have been a green grocer in New Glasgow. It seems that Hugh was partners in a
grocery store with his brother-in-law, his wife’s brother. The brother absconded with the money, went to
British Columbia, and left the Chisholms destitute. The Canadian census records of 1871 show him as a
farmer in Blue Mountain, Pictou County (which is the same county in which New Glasgow is located).
He is in New Glasgow in the 1881 census records and listed as “a merchant.” Hugh and Mary are buried
in the Riverside Cemetery, New Glasgow, with son James.
He and Mary had five children: Daniel (b.1863), a blacksmith in the 1881 census; Mary (b.1859)
a dressmaker in the 1881 census; Maggie B. (b. 1868); and James William and George Roderick, twins
(b. 6/12/1875, James died Saturday 9/27/1895. (From a photograph of the family, it appears as though
James may have suffered Down’s Syndrome.)
Korte Brueckmann wrote. "I think my brother told me he heard that Hugh left Scotland under a cloud (I
believe he said "a step ahead of the hangman").
Hugh married Mary Meikle 6,7 daughter of James A. Meikle and Mary Ross on 6 Apr 1859 in Wentworth Creek, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. Mary was born8 on 1 Feb 1836 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. She died in Nov 1919 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was buried9 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Mary was counted in a census10 in 1881 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Mary died in autumn.
She was born in either 1839 or 1836, I would have to verify.

3 M ii. Daniel Alexander Chisholm was born15 on 26 Dec 1862 in Blue Mountain, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died in 1922.
Daniel married Margaret Catherine Rose daughter of John William Rose and Marion Cameron on 6 May 1891 in Evanston, Uinta, Wyoming. Margaret was born on 5 Nov 1865 in Fraser's Mountain, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. She died on 27 May 1968.
4 F iii. Margaret Jane Chisholm R.N. " Madge or Maggie"17,18,19,20 was born21 on 17 Nov 1869 in Blue Mountain, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. She died on 8 Apr 1927 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She was buried22 in Evergreen Cemetery, Garland, Penobscot, Maine.
Margaret was counted in a census23 in 1881 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Margaret married Charnley Elmer Guppy 24 son of Martin Stillman Guppy and Sarah Dwenal Hamilton on 1 Oct 1898 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. Charnley was born25 on 15 Dec 1871 in Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts. He died on 17 Jan 1916 in Garland, Penobscot, Maine. He was buried26 in Evergreen Cemetery, Garland, Penobscot, Maine.
5 M iv. George Roderick Chisholm "Harry" was born29 on 6 Jun 1874 in Wentworth Creek, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died on 30 Dec 1941 in Saint Louis, Saint Louis, Missouri. The cause of death was Leukemia. He was buried on 31 Dec 1941.
George married Myrtle Ellen Killough daughter of John Wesley Killough and Hulda Jane Moore on 6 Jun 1911 in Saint Louis, Saint Louis, Missouri.
Myrtle was born on 22 May 1895 in Mansfield, Finney/Wright?, Missouri. She died in Aug 1965 in Saint Louis, Saint Louis, Missouri.
6 M v. James William Chisholm was born31 on 6 Jun 1874 in Wentworth Creek, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died on 23 Aug 1895 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was buried32 in New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
