Hi Howard and Ashley,
I saw you post on genealogy.com and I'm not sure if you can help me but I've been researching my Mom's genealogy and would like to know more. I'm wondering if your Father could be related to my Mother. In a nutshell, my Mom was born on November 17, 1928 in Miami, Florida and her biological mother was Anna Louise Sands (17 years old) who was born and resided in Nassau, B.I. From what I know, my Mom's mother after getting pregnant by an older man, Howard Chipman, was sent to live with her aunt in Florida, a Mrs. W.A. Gandees to have the baby. My Mom's bio mother tried to keep her but ultimately had to put her up for adoption when she was a couple months old as a single woman with a child in 1928 was far from accepted. My Mom was adopted by my grandparents, Samuel & Pauline Knowles of Miami, Florida. It's interesting that John "Chippie" Chipman was born in October 1928, the same year as my Mom.
I'm trying to find out more about my Mom's side of the family and her Father's too. On my Mom's birth certificate, the father is listed as Howard Chipman and I'm wondering if he could be the same Howard Chipman who fathered several kids by Chippie's Mother, Ethlyn Taylor. According to my Mom's birth certificate, her birth name was Marjorie Sands and her bio dad was 45 years old when she was born and was married. According to the records, Chippie's Dad, Howard Chipman, would have been 47 in 1928 so the age is close and he died in 1951 at the age of 70. It may be just a coincidence but do you think it could be the same person?
It would be great if you have any info that you can share with me or help me find a photo of Howard Chipman. I'd love to see if there is a resemblance to my Mom.
