Ida (Chipman) was my maternal grandmother, she died in 1983. Oddly enough, her mother (Elizabeth Jane Chipman) died on January 19, 1955 at the age of 82, and she herself died at the age of 82 on the same date her mother did, january 19th! Both died at age 82 and on the same day!

She always told me that her father dropped the "Ulysses Simpson" part of his name because he didnt want to be called "useless!"

If you know anything about Grant Edward Chipman (my brother was named for him)please pass it along to me. I know that his father was aide to General Grant in the Civil war,and that Grant Edward Chipman was born in a small town near Winsted, Connecticut that was flooded in the 1950s by the government. On a dry day, you can still drive on whats left of the roads, and see the foundations of the homes.
