Johnstown District marriages 1801-1851 says Ami Chipman and Mary Ann Farnham married by Rev. Wyatt Chamberlain, Archives of Ontario RG8 ser. I-6-A v.14 MS248 #3 p.49 Meth. Epis. 30 April 1833. Witnesses: Stephen Chipman and Rustin Shelden. However, LDS IGI #1760723 says Mary Ann Kish (born 30 July 1816) married Ami Chipman 3 April 1832. There is a death record for A. Mary Chipman, widow age 89, Archives of Ontario 1906 #16068 died 3 Jan 1906 Portland, Bastard Township, Frontenac County ON. They had two children 1) Russell Chipman born 4 June 1833 died 9 Oct 1845 tombstone Portland United Church cemetery. 2) Olive Chipman born ca 1837 died after 1866 who married Eli Dowsett 21 July 1859 Leeds and Grenville County. The marriage record for Eli and Olive says that her mother was Mary Kish (not Farnham - see Edwin A. Livingston May 1990 transcription Leeds and Grenville counties marriage register 1858-1868 vol 28). Eli and Olive Dowsett had a son William J. Dowsett (1866-1955) who married a Annie E. Chipman (1874-1955), all buried Portland United Church Cemetery with a Sophrona A. Chipman who died 14 June 1895 aged 48 years. Perhaps there were two Ami Chipman families??? Confused.
