This is what i have on Ward Chipman (1754-1824)
He was the son of John Chipman who died in Falmouth in 1760. Ward Chipman graduted from Harvard in 1770 and was one of the counsellors at Law in Mass. Bay. Brom Boston he went to Halifax in 1776 and thence to England, where he was granted a pension. This he relinquinshed when he returned to New York, empoyed in the military department, Court of Admiralty. In 1777 Ward was a deputy muster master general of H.M. Provincial Forces, and in 1783 he was one of the fifty five gentlemen who knowing there would be an evacuation of Loyalist, petitioned for extensive grants of land in Nova Scotia. He was extremely clever, able and active, and loyal. The Province of New Brunswick was erected in 1784 and appointments were pending. He became Chief adviser of the Gov. and to members of a Council. He drew up a charter for the city of St. John, NB. His widow, survived him twent six years, her name was Elizabeth Hazen daughter of the William Haxen. Their only son, Ward Chipman inherited the generous attributes of his father, as both constantly helped other Loyalists in their financial difficulties. The Ward Chpman Jr. succeeded his father as Advocate General in 1809
