I am in the process of completing some research on a John Dalton (ex 1st WW Serviceman),who moved to Shanghai in 1919. His service number was 1102 while serving with the Artists Rifles and 760071 with the Bedfordshire Regiment.

I have have acquired a wealth of detail on his early life and service history, prior to moving to Shanghai in 1919. Can any body help me to fill in the blanks and also track down his service medals.
The only detail I have concerning his time in Shanghai is as follows:

1. Worked for the Far Eastern Chemical Laboratories
2. He was a known character on the local sailing scene.
3. He joined 'A' Company of the Mih-Ho-Loong Rifles in 1920.
4. The Shanghai Municipal Gazette 281 of 15th July 1932 lists his award of the SVC Long Service Medal.
5. On 8th December 1941 he was interned in a POW Camp by the Japanese - Which camp I don't know.
6. In 1945 he moved back to the UK.

John won a Military Cross during the 1st WW. His complete medal set was sold by his sister at Dixon Ltd in the UK about 3 years ago to a dealer from China. Would dearly love to track this person down and seek to see if they will sell them to me.

Hope that someone out there can help me. Would gladly pay for any assistance given as I would love to finish this 'labour of love' to a very remarkable man.

Thanks
Gary
