I'm just starting to look for my great grand fathers roots
He immigrated to New Zealand around 1900 and returned to China to die around 1930 (very Loosly)
He married a Scotish woman in New Zealand called Catherine Robertson. They lived in Lawrence (Otago) where he ran a general store and also had a gold claim at Gabriels Gully. He had (we believe ) a Chinese wife and children at the same time he was married to Catherine Robertson.
We believe his home village in China was swallowed up by the expansion of Canton, so we are unable tolocate its whereabouts.

Any leads would be appreciated
