Hi- I don't know anthing about Jacob or Alexandra Vinogradoff, but the name Larissa Vinogradoff Johnson strikes a cord.
My father Nicholas Michael Vinogradoff was fleeing Vladivostok in 1920, resided in China for a while and did have a daughter named Larissa. He split up with her mother and eventually married my mother in Seattle.
I did not get to know Larissa until the mid-later 1950s as I recall, she was some 20 odd years older than me. A very beautiful girl.
The reason I think it may be the same person you are looking for is that as I recall she was or had been married to a highway patrolman whose surname I believe was Johnson. This ia tragic story after just barely getting to know my "new" sister she contracted leukemia and passed away in a matter of a few months, I still remember visiting her. She is buried in the Serbian Cemetery in Colma/Daly City outside San Francisco, her headstone has a beautiful photo of her which is still in perfert condition after 40 odd years. As far as descendants to my knowledge this Larissa did not have any children, thought I may be wrong.
I would be interested to hear if Jacob Vinogradoff was somehow related to my father? As I said my father was born in Vladivostok in 1900, the youngest in his family which had a large number of children (a combination of former children of my grandparent plus those they had mutualy). My grandfather's first name was Michael he was both a physician & naval officer, his brother Alexander I believe was also physician and may have been a naval officer was well. I have some very scant history of the family from St. Petersburg where my great-grandfather was caretaker to a czar's summer palace and my grandfather & his brother were allegedly playmates with the last czar--which may have accounted for their higher education, etc. I wish I knew more & had spent more time talking to my father about his family.
The reason I happened on this message board is that I am planning a trip to Russia, icluding St. Petersburg & Vladivostok and was trying to see if there were any traces of additional Vinogradoffs who were either still there or escaped in the 20s. One of my father's brothers (may have also been a physician) allegedly came to the US via New York but was never heard from. My father's brother Alexander(& his wife Tanya), a ship's captain & later ship broker left Vladivostok earlier than my father. Two of my father's cousins Ivan & Alexander Vinogradoff also came to the US--eventually (1940)everyone settle in San Franciso. I hope this helps and would be interested to hear if it ties in with your search.
