Sorry for the late reply big tecknical problem, only back on line last Thursday. and thank you for the information.
I have had a quick look at Authur de Carla Sowerby, the first mention of Sowerbys' in London is the 1600s, my John Sowerby was born 1815 in Appleby, Westmorland, UK then I hit a brick wall. he could be any one of six John Sowerbys'born in the county. Need his death Cetificate.
I have searched the British National Newspaper Library, and found mention of the Celestial news.(except for 1923-27, that would not affect my research), They are currently moving their stock north to a new custom built repository in Boston Spa, Yorkshire which is about one hour drive from my home,(I am Scots but married a Yorkshireman) they are making digital records of all newpapers as part of the move. So not sure whether to go to London, or wait for the digital read outs on line. Now I think about it, it could take years. Cathie Sowerby.
