My understanding of the transliteration of Russian names is that the British prefer the "ff" ending as in Romanoff, while the Americans prefer the "v" ending as in Romanov. Of course it is a different character [B] in the cyrillic alphabet.
Unfortunately, the only two instances of the name I have come up with thus far are:
Margarita Rufina [Moralev] daughter of Anttonio Josse and Maria Antonia christened 22 Jul 1783 in Sagrario, Santo Domingo, Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico
and
Yevgeniy Moralev b 8 Jan 1908 d 8 Aug 1999 zip code 11368 Corona or Queens Flushing, New York whose social security number was 105-84-1324
