IP Po Ting July 10, 1908 - January 25, 2008 Po Ting Ip, beloved husband of the late Wai Tsuen Lee, passed away peacefully at VGH, and will be sadly missed by his daughter Jean, relatives and many friends. Mr. Ip graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1934 and married Miss Wai Tsuen Lee that same year in GuangZhou, China. He practised civil engineering and taught the same at Lingnan University in GuangZhou. After World War II, he moved to Hong Kong and became a merchant, dealing with wood furniture and real estate. In 1983, he immigrated with his wife to Vancouver to join his daughter. Mr. Ip has made several significant contributions towards education, donating funds to establish scholarships at UBC and UVic. He also played a crucial role in establishing an IMBA program in Guangzhou, China, through collaboration between the University of Lingnan and MIT. He also made annual contributions towards VGH and the Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby, B.C.
