DNA testing

Has there been any DNA testing done on the Chilton family?? I have had some done through my first male cousin. We had always believed we were Sheltons but so far we are not matching up. It has been suggested that our line is actually Chilton. These lines became very tangled in early years. Margaret Shelton is in charge of a DNA Shelton/Chilton/Sheldon testing group.

I am descended from Gideon Farmer Shelton born 1804 in Pittsylvania County, Va. His parents are believed to be a George Shelton (or Chilton) who married Elizabeth Farmer in 1803. I have found this George listed as both a Shelton and a Chilton in early records. Gideon moved to Tn. and probably first went to Dickson County, Tn. He is in Perry County Tn. in the 1830 census and then in McNairy County befoore 1850. This line of Shelton/Chilton has many Dodson, Hanks, and Woolverton connections. After 1850 my line is in Anderson and Henderson County, Texas.

Can anyone connect or relate to any of this?? I would welcome a response and opinions. Thanks, Beth Ann
