Apache attack on Chilsons in Arizona, 1868
I'm trying to identify the Chilson family that was attacked by Apache Indians in southern Arizona in 1868.My great-great-great-grandfather, Martin CASNER, along with his sons, sons-in-law LITTLEPAGE and PUTMAN (often misspelled "Putnam,") and some hired drovers, were driving cattle from central Texas to southern California and encountered the Chilsons after they were attacked by Apaches.Subsequently, me from the Casner party escorted the Chilsons to some Arizona mines that were being prospected or in operation at that time. Some or all of the Chilsons later settled in California.
This information came from the uppublished recollections of my great-great-grandfather Thomas Jefferson CASNER, who was the horse wrangler for the Casner cattle drive.
Is anyone related to these Chilsons?I'd like to know more.
Leif (Casner William) Landberg
