I am doing a one-name study of the surname Chillas/Chilles/Chillace/Chillis/Chulles which appears in Scottish records from the 1690s.

I have managed to link most of the occurrences of the varuous spellings of the surname to one family that appear in the 1695 Poll Tax records for Kincardine o'Neill/ Lumphahan.

Most of the Canadian and US families bearing this surname can also be traced back to this family.

I am happy to share what information I have with anyone who finds this surname in their family tree.
