Hi Alex, You are right, Bishop of Martyropolis is some sort of honorific tittle. Jose Ramon Astorga was also Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago. I could not find any reference of Ines Astorga, but if she is a direct niece of Jose Ramon Astorga Salinas, you might try searching through his family, which apparently was of military and political importance. Maybe you already have the following: JOSE RAMON ASTORGA SALINAS was born 19 May 1831 and died 01 Dec 1906. He was one of 9 brothers/sisters. Parents: Manuel Jose Astorga Camus, born june 1784, who was a colonel, "diputado" and "edecán" of O'higgins. Mariana Gertrudis Salinas Lopez Sanchez, born 16 Nov 1803, died 12 Oct 1872. Assuming Jose Ramon Astorga is uncle of Ines, her father would therefore have to be one of Jose Ramon's brothers. This would give you 2 strong candidates: Manuel Jose Astorga Salinas, born 22MAR1823. Jose Luis de Jesus Astorga Salinas, born 16JAN1836. If any of those two married an Arriagada, you surely found Ines' father. But if you are wrong regarding the Arriagada surname, 3 more candidates appear: Juan Miguel Astorga Salinas, who married Mauricia Pereira Cotapos and also Irene Nercasseau Moran. Pedro Nolasco Astorga Salinas, who married Efigenia Ocampo Palma. Jose Luis Leoncio Astorga Salinas, who married Encarnacion Ocampo Palma. While all this doesn't answer your request regarding Ines Astorga, I hope it might open some new path in your search. Best luck, Francisco Notify Administrator about this message?
