Faye, hi, my name is Pamela Cheek Kirk. I am researching my Cheek line. I too, am interested in Ben Cheek from the Franklin, Hart or Elbert Co. area. I have a listing for Benjamin Childs in the 1850 Franklin Co Census. Unfortunatly, at this moment, it is on my desk at work. I will get the info and forward it to you. My interest in Ben Childs is that my great g-father was William "Lumpkin" Cheek and his first wife was Mae Ella Childs. She was supposed to be the sister of Ben Childs. I do not know of which generation though. She was born in the 1870's and died around 1900. Those dates are also on my desk. I know that Ben Childs moved to Texas and lived the remainder of his life there. William "Lumpkin" Cheek spent about 5 or 6 years in Texas. That is where my g-father John Benjamin Cheek was born. I have not got the documentation yet, but he was born in Shelby Co, Tx.,. Let me know if any of this helps you. Good Luck.
