Charles M. Childs, born NY about 1859, died SF 1-10-1896

The above mentioned person was my grandfather. The earliest rec-
ords of him in San Fraancisco, date from about 1880. He was em-
ployed as a carpenter and upholsterer. In 1891 he married Ellen
O. Roarke. Of this marriage there were two sons, James Alden, born
May 13, 1892 and Charles Anthony, born Nov.5, 1894. Ellen Childs
died of complications of childbirth Nov. 10, 1894. Charles M.
Childs died of tuberculosis, Jan. 10, 1896.

Inasmuch as this occured before the great fire of 1906, what litle
demography that might have existed was destroyed. I would be
grateful for any information anyone could provide (especially rel-
atives)
