Very interesting. My Pomeroys came from the Arcade area - Delevan, Yorkshire, Sardinia. If Nathan's brother Stephen married one of them, or a relative, it would explain why I have a tintype of Nathan. It might also explain why I have a letter from a Civil War soldier named Alfred Watts, who refers to "Stephen Childs and family". Where did Stephen Childs live? What other information do you have about him?
If you provide your email, I will be happy to send you a picture of the Nathan Childs tintype.

Michael

PS According the the 1880 census (Ancestry.com) Nathan also had a daughter Florence.
