Have info on family which may be yours, as we haven't found all the children, yet. The birth year of your grandfather would correspond to this family:
Lorenzo Whitney Childs, s/o Jarius & Betsy (Jones) was b. 31 Jul 1819 in Wilmington VT. He m. 6 Apr 1847 Mary Ermina Morse of New Fane VT, then moved to Villisca, Montgomery Co. IA where he worked in the PO. They had at least 6 ch, the only ones I know of at this time are: Fred, Stella, Lorenzo Albert. The latter was born in Wheaton IL & m. Emma Mae Skinner. So, apparently Lorenzo Whitney & Mary Morse went to IA by way of IL. Do not have any information that any of them went to NY.
