My mother-in-law has a Roland Childs in her ancestry, son of Paul Childs who died in 1761. I have no specifics on Roland, and I don't know where she got her information. Roland had a son Paul, born in 1782, died in 1876. I realize this is not your Roland, because he is too early. But if it is a family name, perhaps there is a connection.
