Hi,
I cannot say if this is the same Nathan Childs or not. There is a Nathan Childs located in Spartanburg around this time. Nathan Childs Sr. is listed in Granville County, NC. From 1784 - 1787 Nathan Jr is listed in the Tara River District,NC.
Whomever this Nathan is, the date is clearly incorrect. I believe it should read he was run out in 1775, not 1785. The British were expelled from Charleston in late 1775. They failed to take it back in June 1776 and finally captured Charleston in May, 1780 and evacuated in 1783.
