It's great to talk to someone whose family line runs through James, Alfred (Alford) and Joel B.Which member of the James Childress family do you trace your family line?Who was your father? Who was your grandfather?
My information about James and Elizabeth Childress is very sketchy.I am looking for any additional information which you may have about James and Elizabeth Childress and their 5 children.

James DOB unk DOD Apr 1815May have lived in the Spartanburgh Area of the 96th Judicial Distict of SC in 1790.Apparently living in Bibb County Ala when he died.

3.Lucretia Susan DOB 18 Jul 1815 Morgan County GaDOD 23 Apr 1903 Married Thomas Watson Jones on 16 Jun 1831 in Bibb County Ala 2nd Marriage James Smitherman 28 Dec 1843 Bibb County Ala
4.Polly Mary (Matilda) DOB and DOD unk married William Augustus Goodgame on 24 Nov 1831 in Bibb County Ala.
5.PriscillaDOB and DOD unkMarried Stephen Branham (Brannan) on 11 Oct 1830 in Bibb County Ala.
The Orphans Court for Cahawba (Bibb) Ala on 14 Nov 1819 appointed Thomas Childress as the guardian for the estate of Polly, Lucretia and Priscilla Childer (Childress).
Alexander Richey (husband of Polly Childress)was accepted as security
This court also noted that "Polly Childers, Lucretia Chiders and Priscilla Childers are poor children within said district, that thir father is deceased, and that their nother in not in the said overseer's opinion capable of maintaining them."Therefore, Lucretia was bound and apprenticed by indenture until the age of 16 to John Stogner (husband of Mary Childress).In addition, Polly and Priscilla Childers were apprenticed by indenture to Willis Smith (husband of Lucy Childress).
