Billie,
I've noticed your query for some time, and since no one has responded, I'll give you my thoughts on this. I show William as being in Spartanburg County in the 1790 census, with 3 males and 4 females in his family. Were I to speculate, I think he may well have married the widow Celia Snow here, who I believe to be the widow of Ebenezer Snow. My ancestors begin with William (and his "maybe" father, Thomas), then go Obediah, sr.>Obediah, jr.>Caleb>William Thomas>John F.>Joel Patrick (me). I would love to see any pix of the earlier Childress family, if you have any, or know where I could get a copy.
