Childress Family - TX 1826

I have Volumes VIII and XI of Malcolm McLean's "Papers Concerning Robertson's Colony in Texas." In these volumes are a large number of references to Childress. For instance, George C. Childress, Elijah R. Childress, Ann Maria Childress and John Childress, James Childress and Elizabeth Childress were parties among a large number of defendants in an 1826 case concerning the estate of Elijah Robertson. Also G.C. Childress is identified as one of the committee appointed to make arrangements for the reception of President Andrew Jackson. Many, many references to various Childress family members. My interest is that contained in the autobiography of George Washington Morgan are mention of my ancestor, Thomas Mackey, and James R. Childress and a Robert Childress as having been involved in an indian battle in the summer of 1836. I'm hoping to find descendants of this Childress family who may have more data about that battle in which I believe my Thomas Mackey was killed. Will be happy to copy all references to Childress.
