I have a William and Phoebe(sp) living with Jesse and Catherine Nichols in Halifax Cty in the 1850 census. The census spells the name Childres. William is listed as 70 which means he was born in 1780. I believe that Catherine Nichols may be Catherine Childress, their daughter. Both William and Phoebe are listed as born in Va. The name Phoebe may be wrong but that is what it appears to be in the Census page
I will be doing more research. Mark
