According to HISTORY OF SHELBY COUNTY, Wyatt S., Hiram C., George C., and Moses Birdwell CHILDRESS were brothers and sons of Thomas Russell CHILDRESS. Thomas Russell was supposed to be a descendant of Adam CHILDRESS, who came to Ameria and settled in VA. (Not sure when). These brothers came from Shelby Co.,(?) TN to Shelby Co., TX. in 1818. But according to the HANDBOOK OF TEXAS, George C. was the son of John CHILDRESS and Elizabeth ROBERTSON. Some, maybe all, of the brothers fought in the war of independence for Texas.
I am interested in MOSES BIRDWELL CHILDRESS, his ancestors and his family. I have the 1850 and 1860 census of Shelby Co for him. He married Jane OLIVER. I think her father was Andrew Oliver, Sr. Moses was born on March 3, 1805 and died on August 23, 1868. He and Jane are buried at Jerico Cemetery in Shelby Co. Any connections for anyone???? Does anybody have any information on the ancestors of Moses??? Especially to connect him to Thomas and further back to Adam CHILDRESS.
