Dear Royce,
My brother John and I have done considerable research on our Childress lineage, and count your William as the first Childress we can find documentation on. However, I think the consensus is that his father probably is one Thomas Childress of South Carolina (per 1790) census, who shows up having 3 male children and 4 female children. That's about all I know, but I really would appreciate any information you could share with me on this matter.
