Searching for descendants of Peter Carter CHILDRESS of Well Springs, Campbell Co., TN. Peter was born July 11, 1813 in Knox Co. the son of Robert Lindsay Childress and wife Kesih Carter. Peter who a farmer and stonecutter moved to Campbell Co c1843 along with his wife Elizabeth Meadows[Meaders], of Anderson Co. They had 10 of 12 children grow to adulthood and they were as follows: [1]Robert Lindsay 1835-1915 [my great grandparents] m. Ellen Mozingo, [2] Edith [Edey] Kesiah 1837-1905 m John Stiner Spangler, [3] Joel Carter 1838- ? m Sally Lambdin, [4] Lydia Elizabeth 1840-1906 m William W. Henegar, [6] James Monroe 1841-1907? m Martha A Bowman, [7] Mary Louisa 1842- ? m E[I]rvin Lamdan,Landrum, or Lambdin,[8] Lucy Jane 1845- ? m Andrew J Henegar [wounded Union Vet of CivilWar],[9] Sarah Helen 1846-?, [10] Peter Meadows 1848-1927 m Mary Alice Little. I would love to share information on this line of Childresses that has already been established a a First Families of TN & Rev War ancestor.
