The name Obediah is such an unusual name.

There is a child named "Obadiah" mentioned in the Will of a Phillip Childers/Childress probated in 1812 in Goochland County, Virginia. While this "Obadiah" (born after 1773) can not be the same one you are looking for who was born in Franklin County, Ga. Abt. 1829, if you are at a brick wall, you might try to trace this Goochland "Obadiah" as a potential progenitor (grandfather) of your Obediah's line.

An abastract of a Will of this Childers/Childress of Goochland County, Virginia states:
"Phillip Childress- Goochland- Sept.6, 1812,
wife Mary Green, m. Nov. 12, 1773;
grandson- William Ware Ellis,
daughters: Polly Ellis, Sally Hughbanks, Jane, Elizabeth, Rebecca;
sons: Elijah and John;
divided to William Ware and Children. Summary of Family: Children: Elijah, John, Obadiah, Jane, Elizabeth,Rebecca, Sally, Polly"

I haven't seen the original Will or any expanded text of the Will and I do not know what became of the children.
