MITCHELL CHILDRESS/CHILDERS, born Oct 23, 1750, died Aug 5, 1844, was Revolutionary War veteran who served in Benjamin Cleveland's NC Regiment at King's Mountain and is found on the 1790 Wilkes Co, NC census as Mitchel CHILDERS. He moved from Wilkes Co, NC to Greene Co, TN in 1793 and then to Knox Co, TN in 1794 where he made his Will in April 1843. MITCHELL CHILDRESS, SR married (1) Hannah Webb (daughter of John and Usley/Ursula Webb) and had the following children: Mitchell Childress, Jr., born ca 1769, died ante 1850 (was on 1850 Maury Co, TN census); James Childress, died BEFORE April 1843, according to his father's Will made in April 1843. JAMES CHILDRESS' children were named as heirs in their grandfather's Will made in 1843; Polly Childress who possibly married Robert Rasdan/Risden/Raysdan; Susannah Childress who probably married Joseph Robertson; and Ursula Childress, born 1780, who married her first cousin William Childress on Oct 13, 1801, and lived next door to her father at time of 1830 Knox Co, TN census. MITCHELL CHILDRESS, SR. married (2) RACHEL HENDRIX (daughter of Garrett Hendrix) on March 4, 1815, in Knox Co, TN, and they were parents of John K. Childress who purchased land in Jackson Co, AL in 1836 and married (1) Ruth Brown Burgess in 1840 in Jackson Co, AL. Searching for living descendants of MITCHELL CHILDRESS, SR.
