I have a John Childress who was the son of Joel who came from Wales. This John also named a son Joel (Maj. Joel Childress who was the father of Sarah Childress Polk.) Maj. Joel (b. 3/22/1777) named a son John Whitsett Childress (b. 1807), who named a son John W. Jr. (b. ca. 1845), who named a son John Williams C. (b. 1879). I don't have any brothers named John and Joel. Of course, I don't have a complete chart, either, so some may be missing.
