MaryJean: I have another item to throw into this interesting pot. You and I connected several years ago on my Mays research. Guess what? Mary Ann Childress Carter and Solomon Carter are ancestors of my husband's fourth great grandfather - Edwin Mays who married Martha Ann Carter in Amherst in 1837. She was the daughter of Job Carter and Adeline Flood. Job was the son of Peter and Betsy Sandidge; Peter was a son of Solomon Carter. Here's another piece: Adeline Flood's parents were Martha Carter and John Flood. I am trying to discover if Martha was a daughter of Abraham. He stood as surety for the marriage license. The Mays of Prince George and Amelia, as you know, were connected early on to the Ellis line. Abraham Carter and his sons are executors of John Mays' will in Amherst.
After all these years, I still can not get past 1750 on documented information that would tie these Amherst Mays to any one Mays line.
Nice running into you again!
