Gary, I'm aware of that use of the name by followers of the Methodist Church, but there is no indication whatsoever that I'm aware of that this family was involved in the Methodist movement. Being doubly descended from Pleasant (my grandparents were second cousins, once removed through Pleasant) there was absolutely no carry-over if they were ever a part of that movement. Every one of the old ones that I can remember were strictly Old Regular Baptist if they attended any church. If Methodist, I'd think there would have been SOME carry-over down to the third generation below him.
