A correction to my posting from last year. We now know that John L. Childress' father was actually Robert Henry Childress who was born in VA in about 1813. He died on June 1, 1893 in Christian Co KY. John L. was born in VA in 1850. He died in October 1911 in Trigg Co KY. We do not know who John's mother was. Robert Henry Childress came to KY and married Susan Virginia Moore Hopper in 1876 in Christian Co, KY. In 1879, John married Susan's daughter, Cornelia Virginia Hopper. We have found no Lucy Jennings tied in other than hearsay. Based on Census records from VA, I believe that a Sarah Harris from Charlotte Co VA may be John's mother.
