My grandfather is Lem Childress of Ky/VA and a desandant of Pleasant Childress. My Grandfather had 6 children (5 boys and 1 girl). The first three boys carry the last name of Childress, my aunt and the youngest boy of the family carries the last name of Childers. The spelling on birth Cert. was done by my Grandfather. My dad Andrew J. Childress is trying to research the family and with the messages that I am reading I don't know if any of you are telling me anything that I didn't know already about how messed up the family name is. There is a Childers/Childress family reunion held every year on the Sunday before the 4th of July at the Breaks Interstate Park in Breaks, Va just east of Pikeville, KY.
