I HAVE NO RELATION WHATSOEVER TO THE CHILDRESS FAMILY.
That being said, I am wondering if anyone has any information on the burial location of Joel Childress, father of Sarah Childress Polk?? I ask because I am a researcher in Rutherford County, TN, and I believe I may have found his grave. It is located in the small historical Cannonsburgh Village(near downtown Murfreesboro), next to a small church. I have not been able to find anymore information regarding Joel Childress' burial. The tombstone(which is broken) reads "__L CHILDRESS born Mar 22 1777 died Aug 18th 1819 age 42 years 4 months and 2 days." Due to the dates, I can only assume this is Joel Childress! The church it is next to is not original to the location. Cannonsburgh is a historical village(tourist spot). If anyone would like I could post a link to photographs I took of the tombstone.
