My maiden name is Childers, but my father grew up Childress, the Army messed his name up and he never had it corrected. My father's name is Carmel Childers, he grew up near Pikeville, KY. The funny thing, too, is that my Grandpa died a Childers, too, because his name was messed up. But our other relatives are Childress. I have an uncle Gary Childress, but I don't know it it is the same one that replied to your subject.
