Stephen Childress was one of the first sheriffs of Williamson Co TN. Henry Childress was sheriff before Stephen. Was Henry, Stephen's father? Stephen's will
probated in Tipton Co [later to become Lauderdale] named a wife Nancy. Does anybody know Nancy's maiden name. She was NOT Nancy Benton as an early Tennessee history would have one believe! But Stephen's daughter Mary did marry Jesse Benton Jr. Need to know other children of Stephen---not all were named in the Will. Thxs for any ideas or sources.
