Conduff,
Do you have information on Patterson Childress who appeared along with John, Mary, and David Childress in the Surry Co., NC State Census 1784-1787 as inhabitants of Capt. Hickman's district? According to "Pendleton District, S.C. Deeds 1790-1806" compiled by Betty Willie, 1982, pages 347-348, Patterson Childers for $120 sold to Isaac January 100 acres on S. side of the Saluda River, bd. by John Thomas, John Southerland. Date: 30 Jun. 1804. Signed: Patterson (X)Childers. Wit: John Childers, Jacob Copelin. John Childers made oath to David Murphree, J.P., 30 June 1804. Rec: 29 Dec. 1804.
Also in the NC State Census for Surry Co. 1784-1787 an inhabitant in the same Capt. Hickman's district was Joseph Januway/January. Do you know if there was some family connection between the Januarys and Patterson and John Childress/Childers? Do you have any Surry Co., NC documents concerning the Childresses that mention the Januarys? Hope you can help.
