Dear Joe, thank you for your reply, your information is very useful. In my family there is a Mary Childres (one S) who was married to William H. DeArmand. Her father was Stephan Childress (2 S's) and her mother was Sally Hall. Stephan's father was Mitchell Childress, Jr.
I am trying to see if there is a connection of the above people to Sarah Childress' family, wife of Pres. Polk. Would you know of any connection at this time? John J. (J.J.) Long
