I also descend from Desty Childress through her daughter Missouri Ann, who married William James McManus. Through an absolute fluke, while looking for info on the McManus line, I found Jesse and Desty in Henderson County, Texas on the 1860 or 1870 census. Missouri was born in Gilmer (Upshur County) in 1852. I have never been able to find a burial place for Jesse and Desty - could they be in Henderson County??? I'll share whatever info I have if you think that it will be beneficial.
