To Terry Childress:

Terry, I trace our Childress line back to South Carolina, circa 1791, the birth date of Obediah, Childress, Sr., whom we believe to be the son of William Childress, died 1834 in Jefferson County, Alabama. I know the family did migrate through Tennessee, ultimately ending up in Ackerman, Mississippi, which is about 60 miles south of Lafayette County. Perhaps there is a connection. Obediah, Sr.'s siblings were, at least, David, Levi and William. This David was born circa 1800 and married a Mary Graham, according to my records.

I am attempting to get a line on a Ruffus Green Childress, son of James Childress, born 1802 in "upcountry" South Carolina. Ruffus Green was born in Marshall County, Alabama in October, 1838. Ruffus had five siblings: Sarah Jane (her mother's given name); Mary Agnes; Margaret, Frances and Andrew John.

Any information on the above?

Thanks,
Pat Childress
