You may have this already, but I found on the Hardeman Co., Tenn. Marriages.
James McCarter married Elizabeth J Luttrell on Dec. 26, 1858. by Wm. S. Daughety, M. G.
Bon wa made by James McCarter, and John Childress. This most likely the son of Joel Childress and the grandson of John Childress and Mary Polly Kirby.
Then on June 16,1859 John W. Childress married Martha A. McCarter. I know that my grandfather Thomas Jefferson Childress was in Hardeman Co., Tenn. for the 1860 census, and John and Martha also. So it seems there might have been a connection between the Childress and Luttrells.
