Hi, Your son's grandparents were Garland E. and Dora Catherine Niccum Childress.
Dora was from Elwood Ind, a sibling of 18 kids, some were step-siblings. Her mother, Viola Now was married twice. Her father was Lester Niccum. Both were full german descent. Garland's parents were William Murray Childress and his mother was Lydia Margret Brown, both from Butler Co. Garland was one of 12 kids, 4 boys and 8 girls.
There is a lot of history on both sides.
There is a family tree on both sides recorded at least back to early 1700s.
I have it. Tell John Paul hello!
If you want a copy, email me with your address.
