Contributing to the inaccuracy in any era is that the named children may die before adulthood unbeknownst to a researcher who would have only a partial list. The unrecorded death of the first born child, for example, would make the strict application of this naming sequence inaccurate for a researcher who used the names of the surviving children listed in a will.
