Thank you so much for your reply and help. The following is probably more info than you want or need. Yet, I'm hoping it might be read by other who may be able to help me, also.
I'm looking for Sarah Childer's parents who were both born in South Carolina. This is one of the few lines in my tree that I haven't found info on.
A cousin whose grandmother was my grandfather's sister traced our native root on that side of the family (which includes Lee, Tye, Childers and Murphy), proved descent, then cut off all ties with family, and moved onto a reservation. This cousin never shared their info with anyone that I can find. I believe they joined a group in Georgia.
My grandfather had an aunt that was called "Dark Ann" because of her skin tone. We have always been told we were from one of those tribes a fore mentioned.
I know family stories don't always pan out about Native American heritage, in fact sometimes we can be really surprised. My dad's family never spoke a NA heritage and there is quite a bit there. However, because I have a cousin who went "Native" I am looking in that direction. I am at a stand still on that side.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
