Yes, I still have a lot of brick walls.
My grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Childress, b. 1826, Jackson Co., Ala. His first wife was Eliza Ray. they were married in Jackson Co., Ala. about 1848, and had at least the flowwing children. James Austin, b. about 1850, Mary Elizabeth, b. about 1853, Robert, b. about 1856, Silas, b. about 1858, and Thomas J., b. 1860. Thomas J. was boorn in Tenn., the others in Ala.
The family was on the 1860 census of Hardeman Co., Tenn. Eliza was supposed to have died in 1863. Grandpa married my grandmother Sarah Jane Anderson in Franklin Co., Ark., about 1865.Their children were John Wesley, Nancy Isabell, Martha Alice, William Joseph, Charles C., and Geo. Washington, my father.
John Wesley, William Joseph, Charles C., and my father all went to Texas, Collin, and Hunt Counties.
Thomas Jefferson had one brother of whom I can not find anything about, except he was on the 1850 census of Jackson Co., Ala. at home, 18 years, His name appeared to be Monroe.
Then there is Sarah, and Caldonia, no trace of them, other than Caldonia was on the 1870 census of Franklin Co., Ark. Liviing in the household of her brother Joseph Hiram. Silas (if he is my Silas) married Nancy J. Drain in Franklin Co., Ark. They did at one time go to IT, because one of the children was born there. Will look up the names, and send later.
Bonnie
